MELBOURNE WORKSHOP
Synopsis
This workshop introduces humanitarian and development staff to sexual and gender minorities (SGM), with a focus on the Asia-Pacific region. We explore the rights, needs and strengths of sexual and gender minorities in development and humanitarian contexts, identifying gaps and opportunties in current policy and practice, and introducing tools for developing inclusive and transformative programming. Ways of working in partnership with local organisations and communities are highlighted. Available as a one-day workshop, with an optional second day to explore specific programs within your organisations.

Staff in programs, technical advisory, business development, MEL; reporting/compliance, advocacy and similar roles.
Learning Outcomes
• Confidence using terminology/concepts, and navigating sexual and gender diversity in country and cultural contexts.
• Familiarity with development and humanitarian challenges for sexual and gender minorities, and community strengths.
• Ability to apply insights within rights and needs based approaches, within their organisation and specialisation.
• Understanding of protection issues in working with sexual and gender minorities.
• Familiarity with partnership approaches and tools for engaging country offices, partners, and SGM CSOs and communities.
